BRIEFS: Man sought in slayings

EDMONTON - RCMP say an Edmonton man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant in the
beating of a prostitute is a ``person of interest'' in the unsolved slayings of
five women in recent years. Robert Poole, 47, is being sought on charges of
aggravated assault, sexual assault and weapons offences. - CP 
 
TORONTO 
 
The FBI is spearheading a manhunt in Canada . Brian Jones, 46, a former Ottawa
landscaper, is sought in connection with the August 1999 kidnapping and sexual
assault of a woman, said the FBI. Also sought in Canada is John Addis, 52,
wanted for the 1995 murder of his girlfriend. -- CP 
 
TORONTO 
 
A second health-care worker has died of SARS, the Ontario Ministry of Health
announced yesterday. The 58-year-old female nurse, who worked at an undisclosed
Toronto health-care facility, contracted the disease during the first cluster of
SARS and passed away yesterday. -- CP 
 

MONTREAL

About 200 people marched through downtown Montreal yesterday demanding dozens of the city's Palestinian refugees be spared deportation. About 100 refugees, who have lived in Canada for years, face squalid conditions in camps in Lebanon and

nearby Palestinian territories, said protesters. -- CP
